massive sinkhole in pacifica. that has blocked access to a public beach. good evening, i'm vicki liviakis. and i'm steve aveson, in for grant lodes. the sinkhole emerged over the weekend - but there's some real concern tonight - that the sinkhole will get even worse. we'll take you a live picture now of what it currently looks like. the challenge now - is what to do about it. a crew has been pouring concrete at the base of the to shore it up. and they are racing against a clock. as kron four's terisa estacio reports, a storm is on the way that could make a bad situation even worse. the rain is coming. and could make it difficult for crews to repair that sinkhole. kron four meteoroligist lawrence karnow joining us now. with when we can expect to see more rain. lawrence? >> reporter: the first main event, as and as we head toward thursday right now we have up to

"i'm actually from santa cruz" all here to get a close look at the building in which 36 people lost their lives "now i guess i can put the images that ive seen, i can tie them more together, i can see the structure, see what it looked like and get more of a grasp of what it was like on the day" "it's surreal, it is really surreal, to look in there and see the ravage that has taken placeand just knowing that people actually lived in there" this is all that is left of stairs leading to the second level "that's a sad staircase, that's not good" mario rodriguez says being here is allowing him to see why it must have been difficult for people to escape the fir "i can totally see, the windows are too high, there is one big door on one side then another of the other side, looks like it is blocked off by rv's on this side, and a lot of furniture, you can kind of see where it was at, it's just sad" a benefit concert called 'oakland united' is scheduled for this wendesday at 7 p-m. and will be hosted at oakland's fox theater. proceeds will go to the gray area foundation for the arts oakland fire relief fund.which

has reportedly already collected more than 550-thousand dollars. n-f-l personnel.local tech companies.and celebrities like chelsea handler and lena dunham have all donated to the fund. san jose police are calling on the public to help them track down a man who pulled a gun and robbed a man with a disability. the robbery began with a fake accident but it was captured on surveillance video. kron four's rob fladeboe join us now live from san jose with more on the story. rob?? the disturbing video begins with the moment when the suspect, riding his bike on the sidewalk, intentionally knocks the victim down from behind. he then circles back and helps the man to his feet. but the victim has a speech disability and when he tries to communicate with the suspect via text message on his phone, the suspect grabs the phone. there is a struggle as the victim tries to get his phone back but the suspect pulls a gun and then kicks the victim, knocking him to the ground again before riding away.

lets take another look at the video, shot by a surveillance camera here in the 6200 block of tuers road near las lagos gold course. police say it suggests the disabled man was targeted and that the staged accident ruse may be one the suspect has used before and may try again unless he is brought to justice. police in the east bay. are investigating a fire at a concord elementary school. as a possible arson. the incident happened around 5 - yesterday morning. at highlands elementary school on pennsylvania boulevard. police received a report of a suspicious person yelling in the school's parking lot. when officers arrived they discovered that someone had broken into a classroom and started a fire. police were unable to locate the suspect. and no structural damage was reported. the incident remains under investigation. in the east bay. oakland police are looking for a driver who ran away after crashing into a power pole. the crash critically injured a passenger in the vehicle this morning. officers responded just after 5:30 to a report of a rollover crash on foothill boulevard. power lines were knocked down by the crash

>> steve:police say a passenger was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital in critical condition the driver still hasn't been located. police say a pedestrian in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a paratransit bus in oakland this morning. it happened at 5:30 on 40th street near adeline street. we're still waiting for more details to be released by police. 2 people were robbed at gunpoint near the u-c berkeley campus this morning. it happened near the intersection of ellsworth street and durant avenue just before 1am. officers say a man ran up the the victims and demanded their property. the victims complied and the man ran away. no one was injured. police said the man appeared to be hispanic and in his late 20s. >> vicki: a critically injured passenger this morning officers responding just after 530 with a report to foothold hill boulevard. power lines knocked down and they say his extricated from the vehicle taken in critical condition. the driver was and located. in a wheelchair and killed by at the transit bus and oakland. it happened at 530 adeline. we're

san francisco's municipal transportation agency is talking about the explosive growth of ride hailing companies.like uber and lyft. and says there's simply not enough being done to deal with what could become an even bigger traffic headache. catherine heenan is here with details. >> reporter: those in the

and while san francisco already has plenty of traffic problems -- muni says this obviously won't help.. the complaint is part of a filing with the public utilities commission. saying there haven't been enough limits on the growth of the industry. and that's led to even more traffic congestion. san francisco was rated as having the third worst traffic congestion in the nation this year. and the agency says much of the increase is because of uber and lyft. a key concern - the legality of uber and lyft drivers using rental cars to drive passengers.which is part of an ongoing debate. taxi drivers have long been arguing that they're regulated far more than their ride-hailing competitors. there was no immediate reaction to the report from uber and lyft. a former jetblue flight attendant who authorities say

ran from security after leaving behind 70 pounds of cocaine at l-a-x is pleaded guilty in court today. marsha reynolds was charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine. reynolds faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison. the t-s-a says reynolds was selected for a random security screening at lax in march. moments later, authorities say reynolds dropped her carry-on luggage, kicked off her heels, and fled down an upward-moving escalator out of the terminal. she surrendered in new york days later. her lawyer says reynolds might not have been sure what was in her bag. police arrested a man on suspicion of committing a hate crime in simi valley.they say he stabbed an apparent worshipper leaving a mosque. officers responded to 911 calls saturday night. about a fight on the same street as the mosque. after police arrived and defused the fight.they discovered that a man had been stabbed. 29-year-old john matteson was booked on two felony counts. making criminal threats and violating the civil rights code. authorities believe matteson.targeted the victim for his religion. ,. police are still looking for a second suspect who may have been involved.

life of a 15-month-old baby. and the two of them were reunited for the ceremony. catherine heenan says the whole drama played out on surveillance video. >> catherine:that deputy is seen rushing into action at a state office in tampa. after hearing that a baby had stopped breathing. you can see what was happening at the top of your screen. he put the little boy down on the floor and began doing infant c-p-r.saying he was praying that he wouldn't 'brea'' the child. by the time fire and rescue arrived the boy was breathing. deputy steve donaldson has been honored for his fast action last month.and it was a chance to see how little cory nelson is doing. the deputy says that he thanks god he was around.he wasn't even supposed to be working that day.but was asked to fill in. and he had just re-certified in infant c-p-r a few weeks ago.

now on kron 4 news at six: a vigil tonight at the site of the ghost ship fire in oakland that killed 36 people. this one. for those who were among the first on the scene trying to save lives. good evening. i'm steve aveson. and i'm pam moore. this vigil started just about an hour ago. it is one of many we have seen outside the warehouse since the deadly fire erupted a little more than a week ago. kron 4's ella sogomonian is there tonight. she got a chance to talk to some of the people who showed up. ella. >> reporter:the oakland warehouse fire also deeply affected first repsponders who were both there or aware of the deadly loss. tonight they've come together at the site to pay their respect and cope with the tragedy along with the community. fr. jayson landeza, chaplain oakland fire department >>:"as a prt of our own healing process.begin the healing process for ourselves." 11 so many questions remain. key among them. there is still no word of what caused the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland

tomorrow the atf has scheduled an 11am press conference to update their investigation. i guess we will have to wait until then to see if they have reached any conclusions about what happened here.in oakland haaziq madyun kron4news the u-s senate is paying its respects to those affected by december 2-nd's ghostship warehouse fire. on saturday senate passed resolution six-37. it honors the 36 people who perished in the tragic warehouse fire. the resolution also commends the brave first responders. who worked tirelessly to bring comfort to the victim's families. last thursday the u-s house of representatives observed a moment of silence for the fire victims.

early this afternoon, crews started bringing in heavy equipment. the plan is to pour concrete into the sinkhole. and a lay foundation, then fill up the rest with sand. this sinkhole is at the end of a beach access path. it is on private property. the owner has hired a general contractor to fix the sinkhole. sot/tc: nasser elsalhi the city says, it is monitoring the situation. there is some concern about the upcoming storm impacting the work. and making the sinkhole bigger. the plan right now is to complete the project by the end of the week. and re-open the path to residents. skies will be mostly cloudy tonight with patchy valley fog. it will be mostly cloudy tomorrow with a chance of rain. r >> reporter: will change as early as tomorrow it begins the

43-year-old david carrasco was busted late last month. police say he advertised an escort service on craigslist and other websites. carrasco now faces charges a long list of felonies including rape, sodomy and pimping. he is due in court on wednesday. oakland police are looking for a driver who ran away. after crashing into a power pole this morning. the crash critically injured a passenger in the vehicle. officers responded just after 5:30, to a report of a rollover crash on foothill boulevard. power lines were knocked down by the crash police say, a passenger was extricated from the vehicle, and was taken to a hospital in critical condition the driver still has not been located. an officer -involved shooting in kern county. leaving a 73-year- old man dead and his family wanting answers. it happened early this morning in bakersfield.

you were one of the many people trying to score some tickets today. dan? the seismic retrofit of one of the bay area's largest reservoirs. is facing delays. the anderson dam in santa clara county is supposed to be drained and upgraded starting in 2018. but now it looks like the new date is 2020. there are fears the dam could collapse in a major earthquake. it needs hundreds of millions of dollars in repairs. the reason for the delay: increasing concerns about the number of faults which run through the area. the santa clara valley water district says, it needs to rethink its original plan. the district's board is supposed to hold a hearing on the matter tomorrow. a groom's idea to use a drone to film his wedding. has landed him in trouble with some of the wedding guests.
